This Spring Stephen and I had the unique opportunity to escort a group of eight graders through Washington DC. Our brother in law Doug is a history teacher and does this trip every year and asked us to join him. I will admit I was a bit apprehensive. Nothing screams anti-vacation like a bus full of eighth graders. But I was promised a good time and an incredible journey through our nation's history if I went.
I. WAS. NOT. DISAPPOINTED!
In fact I would dare say that there is no other way to do this trip. We had a bottomless well of history trivia from Doug,
the most incredible and knowledgeable tour guide ever (Brian), and a bus driver who capped off the entire experience (Charles)...and don't get me started about our guide at Gettysburg. Doug knows all of the ins and outs of the city and it made for the best trip ever!
It really was filled with awe inspiring moments from sun up to sun down.
Excuse me if I get carried away going down memory lane.
